BikeFest events are happening region-wide and what a great opportunity to explore outside your neighbourhood!

1 October - 6 October events

  

Event: Bike Rodeo Ōtaki

Date: Tuesday 1 October, 11am - 2pm

Organiser: Rebicycle

Location: St Peter Chanel School

Description: Pedal Ready and Energise Ōtaki are bringing the ReBicycle kids bike rodeo to St Peter Chanel School. The rodeo includes a range of challenging obstacles for all abilities. Free bike fun for ages 3-10ish. Some bikes and helmets available but bring your own if you can. Pedal Ready instructors will be on hand to help kids learn to ride, build confidence on their bikes or do a basic bike safety check.

Event: Ride Holidays 'Climbing for Charity' vertical meters challenge

Date: Friday 11 October - Sunday 13 October 

Organiser: Ride Holidays

Location: Wherever you ride!

Description: Are you up for a serious challenge? Your mission is to climb 5000 vertical metres over a three day period, 11-13 October. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to provide bikes for Tui Glen School in Stokes Valley. They have built their ‘Bikes in Schools’ track, and now the kids are keen to get riding. It’s easy - Sign up, collect a few sponsors, then off you go.

Date: Monday 21 October - Friday 25 October

Organiser: Pedal Ready

Location: Your school

Description: Bike to School Week is a free, fun, week-long celebration for students who have completed Pedal Ready training. School participation in Bike to School Week enhances sustainability curriculum, builds community, and highlights the benefits of active transportation - like less congestion and healthy, energized students. Teachers or parents can enter children in the draw to win prizes by posting @bikegreaterwelly (facebook or instagram) with #biketoschool between 21/10 and 25/10.
